Camp planners Dakota Bishop, TC Bodiford and Jeremy Twachtman discuss their recent set-up/recruiting trips. Working full time for TEAMeffort offers many opportunities to meet and get to know people from across the country. Whether on the phone, through email or in person, the camp planners for TEAMeffort certainly have many opportunities for making these connections. Recently, three of the camp planners on staff with TEAMeffort were all out of the office at the same time on set-up/recruiting trips. To give you an idea of what they do, each camp planner will lay out their trip here:

(Dakota) “The trip started with dropping off recruiting materials to Tiffany Morrow and Trot Williams at the Baptist College of Florida.  Next up was some camp setup in Pensacola.  Got to meet with the City of Pensacola’s Volunteer Coordinator, Jeff, about strategy for reaching out to more and more people during the summer.  Went over some housing basics at Saint Luke United Methodist Church, TEAMeffort’s housing site for the Pensacola Camp.  Wednesday I stopped by the University of Mobile for a morning of recruiting.  Jannah Lyons, Emily Griner, and Ed Hoyle stopped by to help out for a while, and it was great turnout.  Next up was a quick meeting with the New Orleans’ camp location, Aurora United Methodist Church, on the West Bank of New Orleans.  All is well there.  Then it was on to the new camp location, down on the bayous south of Houma, Louisiana.  I’ve gotten to meet with a handful of tribal council members and some homeowners as well.  Tonight, in fact, there’s a meeting set with the entire tribal council to talk about what TEAMeffort’s impact will look like in the area this summer.  Fortunately, I’ve been able to nail down the housing for the camp – contracts signed and all – so now the focus turns to food and worksites. This was my last camp setup stop on this trip.  Next up is a two-day recruiting stop at a Global Missions Fair at Samford University, and then on to Auburn for another handful of smaller recruiting stops.  Monday will find me at a table with Lane Schaeffer and May Stephens on campus the University of Montevallo.  The next day I’ll be back in Birmingham recruiting with Jordan Cagle at a Campus Crusade for Christ event on UAB’s campus.  Lastly, I’ll run down to Tallahassee on Wednesday to recruit at FSU Wesley’s weekly dinner.”

(T.C.) Last week I was in Cleveland and Detroit for camp set up. We have been in Cleveland before but it has been a couple years. I got to reconnect with everyone that we worked with a couple years back and they are all so excited for TEAMEFFORT to be coming back. After Cleveland I drive over to Detroit. This is a brand new camp, Detroit is a city of much need and anyone can tell you that from what they have heard and seen in the news. With this being TEAMefforts first time in Detroit, there were some challenges to overcome but everyone that I have talked to has welcomed us with open arms and great hospitality and can not wait to work with us.”

(Jeremy) “I had the opportunity to travel out to Oklahoma to set up our new camp in Moore, OK for 2014. There are a lot of really great people and ministries out there that are doing amazing work to help rebuild the area. I am excited to see what God will do with our groups next summer. I also took some time and recruited at colleges in the area including the University of Oklahoma, Hillsdale Freewill Baptist College, the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, John Brown University, Kansas State University and IHOP University. I am really looking forward to getting back out there in the spring to continue setting up Moore, Ok and also to set up our Tahlequah and Eureka Springs camps, and to continue recruiting.”

Each time someone from the TE office is out recruiting or setting up a camp, we try to let you know through Facebook or Twitter. We ask for your prayers during these trips that our staff makes. God Bless!
